Elijah's Cave

Elijah’s Cave: A large cave 20’ deep and 15’ high at the entrance is located up above the stone structures at the base of Jebel Maqla. It is believed to be the cave of Elijah.  “And Elijah arose, and went unto Horeb the mount of God. And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there. 1 Kings 19: 8-9

We will never forget the first time we gazed upward and realized we could be looking at the cave of the Prophet Elijah. That sudden recognition triggered a cascading awareness that we were actually standing on holy ground, and we found ourselves on our knees that instant. The cave overlooks the valley below where the camp of the Israelites would have been located. The view from inside is spectacular.
